Large Family Laundry Strategies - More Tips & Practical How-To's

Laundry is a very popular subject for people to ask me about.  *smile*  I've posted about it a couple of times ("Large Family Laundry Strategies:  How I Keep 9 Kids Clean, and Why That's Valuable", and "Large Family Practical How-To's"), but I'm always learning and improving my own strategies!  So I'll share some more great tips I've learned for making our laundry sparkly clean and smelling fresh, how I do it time efficiently, and how we get it out and put it away again efficiently in our home (a specific question from a reader recently).  I love it!  Let's look at:
  • More laundry tips for you!
  • Putting it away... and getting it out again!

Potty Training Children... In Less Than a Day?

When our oldest daughter was 2-years-old I asked a dear friend how in the world one goes about potty training a child?!  She put a book in to my hands called, Toilet Training In Less Than A Day by Dr. Nathan H. Azrin.  I thought, Praise the Lord and hallelujah!  *laugh!*  Effective, successful, time efficient, ON PURPOSE potty training!  *smile*  I was all over that!  And since then we've used the principles from that book to train our 9 children with great success.  Most of what I will share with you regarding the actual potty strategies we use come strait from this great little book.

Favorite Recipes: Daily Delicious Whole Wheat Bread

We absolutely devour this delicious recipe from and after trying a few different bread recipes that I found elsewhere prior to this one, this recipe instantly became a family favorite - we LOVE it!  We make this recipe to have with our Green Smoothies in the mornings for breakfast. - YUM.  (Have I said that already? *laugh!*) These rolls don't even need butter!  And they're so good for us!  100% whole wheat, yet still chewy and yummy!

Scheduling: Just a Few Kids

I have many readers who have growing families and are interested in scheduling, and who have asked me what my schedule looked like when we had fewer children. How did I get things done, and what about when there aren't any "helpers" really yet.  So in this post I'll share with you ten of my past schedules when we had 2 children, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9 children, to give you a window as to what those days were like for us.  And the additional schedules may give growing families a window in to what having a larger family of varying sizes can look like.  *smile*

Professional Parenting, Part 2 of 2

One of those comments that we get fairly often is, "Wow, you guys are professional parents."  And my answer is No, and Yes!  I am not professional parents in the sense that those people mean, that I have it all together and I've "arrived" as a parent and "have it all down".  Not at all.  I am learning and growing every day in learning to parent our children and in developing my own character as well as theirs.  Parenting is not something that people can have all the answers to or do well at all of the time ~ we can only do our very best.

However the answer to the professional parents comment is also a Yes!  Because I pursue it as my "profession".  When I think of the aspects of having a career - what that looks like, how people pursue it, how they view it, how they respond to it - then parenting to me is much the same thing.

This post is part 2 of 2. Here is Part 1.

In this post I continue exploring what it means to be a professional parent and will cover:

               8. Budget our finances

               9. Study to improve skills and knowledge
               10. Requires our whole person
               11. Practice team unity
               12. Don't just survive it but embrace it to achieve success

"Raising Real Men" - A book review

The title of this book grabbed my attention instantly when I found Hal & Melanie Young's web site,  It was exactly what I have been seeking wisdom on- how to raise real men - and in the process survive our 4 boys, teach them, and appreciate them. And from what I hear from our friends, family, and our blog readers, this could be a very encouraging and insightful book for you as well.  I've already recommended it to just about every mom I have had a conversation with since beginning the book, not because I'm seeking the opportunity to do so but because this topic of boys seems to naturally arise in every conversation as soon as one of us asks, " are you doing?"  *chuckle*
